Opponents Use Lies to Scare Voters

Opponents of Measure B are using scare tactics to try to
convince voters that the 2004 General Plan (GP) not only
promotes very high, runaway growth, but also stating that
Measure B is only supported by developers. That may come as
a surprise to the thousands of people and groups who support
Measure B. To support their claim opponents put out false
information claiming that many folks who support Measure B
are developers – an unequivocal lie. For example: A fine
gentleman named Lou Barber is a consultant to schools….with
no known ties to development interests. Two other gentlemen,
Chuck Bacci (a well known local rancher) and Tom Heflin (a
farmer who owns Rainbow Orchards) are also called developers
in opponents literature. Simply untrue!!! In truth,
Measure B includes the most notable leaders in the community
and includes the following (in small part as space allows):
 Four of five current county supervisors
 Four current planning commissioners
 El Dorado County’s elected sheriff, surveyor,
auditor-controller, assessor and tax collector
 Numerous former supervisors and planning
commissioners
 All major local agricultural organizations
 All (four) local Chambers of Commerce
 The Mt Democrat Newspaper
 The Business Journal of the Sacramento area
 The Superintendent of Schools and the EDC Superindents
Council
 All members of the El Dorado Business Alliance
If Measure B fails it will be due to outright lies promulgated
by a small group of ideologues whose own self-interests are
being placed over that of an entire community. Below is
clarity on issues that have been misrepresented by opponents
of Measure B:
