El Dorado Business Alliance -- Developing Mutual Support on Community-Wide Issues -- P.O. Box 121, Shingle Springs, CA 95692

Congratulations to the El Dorado Irrigation District (EID)

For receiving high marks on the water quality of Sly Park
Reservoir. EID recently announced that a highly technical,
comprehensive, scientific study of water quality at Sly Park’s
Jenkinson Lake shows the lake’s water quality “is excellent
and truly sterling” according to Dr. Michael Anderson of the
Dept of Environmental Sciences at UC-Riverside. This finding
supports legislation just introduced by State Senator Dave
Cox which seeks to allow swimming to continue at the Sly
Park lake.
In an effort to keep the public informed of public health
issues, the county’s Environmental Management Dept and Air
Quality Management District have created a “Community
Update” website: www.co.el-dorado.ca.us/emd The
site provides local information and also links to state and/or
federal regulatory information on the following issues:
Naturally Occurring Asbestos; West Nile Virus; recycling &
solid waste; septic systems/well water; restaurant/food facility
inspection reports; and storm water issues.
This newsletter is dedicated solely to the issue of adoption
of a general plan. It is the collective wisdom and involvement
of all the members of the Business Alliance that it is VITAL
to the community for Measure B to pass. The consequences
of failure are outlined in this issue. We ask for your assistance
in distributing this newsletter beyond the membership of this
organization….and deeper into the community. We challenge
each of you to distribute this to five people who are
undecided as to how to vote on March 8th! Further, we
challenge each of you to make sure that all of your members
go to the polls on March 8th. EVERY VOTE WILL
COUNT and we must rely on our wide base of support to cast
their ballots. Just remind folks: B is BEST – D is DUMB.
